This Halloween was one for the books. It was SO much fun experiencing it with two kids; I can’t wait until Vida actually knows what’s going on but I think she enjoyed it. On Sunday we carved the big pumpkin that Declan picked from the pumpkin patch and lit it with a candle. He was so amazed by it. As soon as my in-laws came over he showed them his “jack-o-latern.”
This year Declan had two costumes; just like other years haha. He was a shark for his preschool Halloween carnival and Mickey Mouse on Halloween. He wanted to match Vida who was Minnie Mouse. And I might be biased, but they were the cutest Mickey and Minnie I’ve ever seen.
I carried Vida around the whole night while we trick-or-treated and Declan would walk up, yell “trick-or-treat!” like a pro and grab candy for him and his sister. Of course, just after a couple of houses he wanted to sit down and eat all the candy. It took some convincing for him to keep on going. The neighborhood was decorated really nice and there is one street that is always lit with string lights – this time they added orange lights, pumpkins and the window displays were all Halloween themed; it was very festive.
We walked around until Declan announced he was tired and Vida was dozing off in my arms, well past her bedtime. Overall it was a successful night; a ton of candy and a ton of “aaawww, look at that Mickey and Minnie!” Yup, they’re cute; they’re mine.
