So this year for Christmas, Declan’s “big” gift was a play kitchen. It actually belonged to my sister and was in really good condition. So with the help of my (not so) little brother, I did a makeover on it.
The kitchen was made of wood, so it was easy to paint. We just had to sand it down a little bit. We took all the doors and small removable parts off for easier painting. I wanted to make the kitchen gender neutral/modern; so I went with black, white and gray (the color scheme in Declan’s room already).
Luckily my brother had some left over gray paint from his room. I just had to buy a can of white and black paint. I used the Rust-Oleum brand because I used it before and I like that it comes with primer mixed in it already. Plus the cans are less than $4; can’t beat that. I also used a little bit of chalkboard paint that I already had on-hand for the back splash area.
We worked on it two Saturday mornings and the result was awesome. My sister was even amazed at the difference the paint made. Oh, and Declan LOVED it.
