This year Christmas was extra special because it was Vida’s first one! We had a total of four Christmas get-togethers. One was a week before at my Mom’s. The second, we went to our annual Christmas Eve party with my in-laws. Declan ran around with his cousins and Vida was Little Miss Popular since she was the baby.
Christmas morning, Declan woke up excited because it was finally Christmas. He ran downstairs and found Santa’s cookie plate. Santa didn’t finish them, so Declan took it upon himself to finish the job. We then handed him the main gift that he asked Santa for; Rescuebots. He loved them! He started playing with them right away and waited to open the rest of his gifts. Vida was more interested in the wrapping paper and tried to eat it, of course.
For breakfast we went to my father-in-laws and opened even more gifts. The sweetest one was a doll of Sofia the First that apparently Declan asked my father-in-law to buy for Vida; anytime that show comes on the tv Declan yells “that’s for Vida!” It was sweet that he requested that gift for her.
We then played with toys all day until everyone came over for dinner at our house. Overall, it was a very sweet Christmas. Christmas is so much better with kids.
I’m also glad to report that Elves of the Shelf went home with Santa on Christmas (thank God); they left a sweet note for Declan and Vida on their chalkboard.
